About Tim Starko Psychological Services
For over 30 years, I've had the incredible opportunity to be a part of the lives of kids, parents, families, and adults. Most of my time has been dedicated to working as a psychologist in schools, where I've provided counseling, assessments, special education programs, and helped out during crises.

I'm a big believer in a client-centered approach to counseling, often referred to as the Rogerian method. This approach is all about creating the right environment for change to happen. It means being genuine, understanding, and totally non-judgmental about whatever my clients bring to the table. Building a solid and trustworthy relationship with them is key. I believe that, while some folks might need a bit of help setting goals, the real needs usually surface from a positive relationship. As a psychologist, I'm fully committed to establishing this kind of connection.

Get to know Tim
I'm here to offer compassionate and culturally sensitive psychological support to both individuals and families. I get that the road to mental wellness isn't the same for everyone – it really depends on your age group and community. That's why I focus on customizing my services for kids, teens, adults, families, and Indigenous communities.

My main aim is to nurture emotional well-being and resilience. I want to be by your side as you tackle life's hurdles, guiding you toward healing and personal growth.

My Approach
I approach psychology with a deep understanding that each person's journey towards mental wellness is unique. It's not a one-size-fits-all scenario. I believe in tailoring my psychological support to fit the specific needs of different age groups and diverse communities. For kids, my approach is infused with elements that resonate with their world, making therapy engaging and relatable. With adolescents, I create a space that acknowledges their evolving identities and challenges, providing support that feels both validating and constructive.

When working with adults, my focus is on understanding the complexities of their lives while offering strategies that align with their experiences and goals. Families receive a holistic approach, recognizing that their dynamics play a crucial role in individual well-being. And in serving Indigenous communities, I bring cultural sensitivity and respect, incorporating traditional practices and perspectives into the therapy process when welcomed.

My core commitment lies in fostering emotional well-being and resilience across all ages and backgrounds. I believe that by recognizing and respecting the nuances of each person's journey, we pave the way for healing and growth that's both meaningful and lasting.
